Video: Free Online Tools to Help You Choose Paint Colors for Your Home

Hey there, Complexers,
It’s confession time.
Have you ever wondered how the design pro’s seem to so easily pull together a color palette? Have you ever thought that they have some special color powers and decorating instincts that you will NEVER have?
The truth is, while most professionals have quite a bit of natural talent, they also have their very own arsenal of tools which they use to create beautiful designs.
Just because decorating a space or choosing colors doesn’t come naturally to you, it doesn’t mean that you should give up on that dream of loving where you live and living in style.
In the video below, we’re going to share with you 3 of our favorite online resources which will help you in narrowing down your next color scheme. Oh yeah, and did we mention they are all FREE decorating resources? (By the way, more information and links to our featured resources can be found just below the video.)
Now, it’s YOUR turn to be the decorator! Check out these 3 online resources, and start playing with ideas for your next project right away:
Houzz: This is simply the BEST place online to see thousands of beautifully designed spaces and get great decorating tips from pro’s. No more purchasing loads of magazines and tearing out inky pages. Simply use your laptop or PC (or download the Houzz app to your smart phone or iPad) to easily surf the site and create “ideabooks” filled with inspiration for YOUR next space or decorating project.
Benjamin Moore Color Viewer: This online tool provides an easy way to get the general feel for how changing colors in your space will affect your overall design. Though we always recommend visiting the paint store and testing the colors with swatches, this tool provides a great starting point. You can either upload your own photos, or play with the stock photos already in their library.
Adobe Kuler: This is a great resource to help you pull together a color scheme. Simply upload a photo of a space, fabric, photo or even a nature shot, and then let the program create a color scheme for you. If you want to tweak it, you can simply drag the cursor over a new color in the photo.
Now, there are loads of killer apps, websites, tools & resources which can help today’s professional designer or the D.I.Y. decorator. We’ll be sharing more of those with you in the future, but in the meantime, we want to hear from you.
In the comments section below the video, tell us about YOUR favorite tools for helping to pull together your design direction or color scheme.
As always, we thank you for tuning in. If you liked this video then please/ por favor/ bitte/ s’il vous plaît — share it!
