From a ‘Shroom to a Room
Product Information
I had to take a break from my new addiction, Pinterest, to send you today’s dose of design therapy, so I’ll make this quick. Today’s dose is in the form of an ideabook, and is about inspiration from one bad-a$$ Mutha. You know who I’m talkin’ ’bout. Mother N… (as in N-ature).
You see, I’m one of those outdoorsy kind of chicks so it’s not so surprising that I often look to nature for inspiration. Many times, the great outdoors is my muse for creating calming, beautiful and balanced color palettes.

Here's a pic of me being "outdoorsy" which was featured in The Great Outdoors section of Construction News. Impressed, aren't ya?
I stumbled upon today’s inspiration during a nature walk with a couple of very entertaining entomologists (and believe you me, that’s a whole ‘nutha story!) In between looking at arachnids, moths, bugs, beetles, bees and caterpillars, I was compelled to snap a few shots of two gorgeous mushrooms I noticed that were gently perched on a log. Who says a designer can’t mix a little biz with pleasure? Nature hike + color palette inspiration = heaven for this girl.
I couldn’t help but think to myself, “Wouldn’t the cream/brown/russet of the mushroom + the grays in the bark + that subtle pop of beautiful pale blue in the snail shell look beautiful in a room?” If only these ‘shrooms could talk (and I bet they would if you ate them — but I would NOT recommend that, I repeat, I would NOT recommend that.) Anyway, the thought of these talking ‘shrooms with crazy-sexy design talent led me to create today’s idea book. (Scroll to the bottom of this post to check out the pics of some tranquil-chic spaces these ‘shrooms would be sure to love.)
Do you have a room or color palette inspired by nature? I’d love to see your nature-inspired space, and hear about what gave rise to your design! Leave your comments and links to your pics right here on my blog!
Peace Owt & Word to Your Mutha Nature,
