You… you light up my life…

A decade ago, Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), also known as the “winter blues,” was considered a rare disorder. Today, scientists believe that between 10 & 25% of the population in the United States suffers from some form of this ailment that causes people to sink into a depression in the late fall and winter months.

The fact is that most houses are light deprived, but that can be fixed.  On this Valentine’s Day, we’re sending out a little light, love, tips and links for lamp resources we know you’ll HEART.

First, here are a few little lighting factoids & quotes you might find interesting (ok, maybe more like opinionoids):

  • One colorful chandelier can carry a neutral room.
  • “Any room, whatever its size, looks better with many little pools of light rather than a general glare. I like intimate low light just where and when you need it.” - Roger Banks-Pye, Colefax and Fowler Interior Inspirations
  • “There is one fundamental fact about lighting: Where there is no light, there is no beauty.” - Billy Baldwin, Ruby Ross Wood
  • “Lamp shades in a living room don’t need to all match, but should all have a pleasant dialogue among themselves re: style, size, shape or color.” Elaine Griffin, Design Rules
  • “Nothing throws a room off kilter like an end table with a lamp that’s the wrong shape and size!” – Doug Wilson, Doug’s Rooms

Below you’ll find a few of our favorite online resources for lamps and lighting accessories. As always, if you need a little in-home light therapy, you can book your appointment online and we’ll send an Interiority Complex Certified Design Therapist right over!

Oh, and this blog entry wouldn’t be complete without the sweet sounds of Debbie Boone…
